| What's
that? You want to know about my company? Why, I'm flattered!
I started Tobin
Hosting as a small, underground operation, running on a consumer
cable modem. At the time, the site went by the name "Flea
Circus",
and was only available to freeware/shareware software developers
(the hosting service was free of cost). As dot-coms started
busting, the cable modem company got frantic and cut service to
their biggest bandwidth hogs. Henceforth, if I wanted to continue
operations, I'd have to pay for a line that allowed hosting.
It was at this
time that I had to make a decision: either buy a more expensive
connection, or close up shop. Several of my "customers" didn't
want to leave, and offered to pay for continued service. I
agreed,
upgraded
my
lines,
and
Tobin Hosting was born.
Since then
we've expanded, hired, and continued upgrading. Our 166MHz Pentium
Pro's
have been replaced with 1.4GHz Athlon servers, and our rickety
old storage systems have been replaced with redundant arrays.
No longer do we host just computer sites, but law
firms, online
stores, freelance portfolio's, and discussion boards.
Our commitment
to clients, however, has always remained true. When
I built my first server
so many years ago, I wasn't selling anything. If a client didn't
need a feature, they weren't forced to buy it. I wasn't
making a profit by
pushing extras they weren't going to use. Our staff still keeps
that in mind today, and I'm pleased to say several original sites are still with us today.
So discover
how good it feels to deal with a real person. Feel the difference
between dealing with a company that wants to sell you everything,
and dealing with a group of people who only want to sit down and
listen to what you need. We don't sell "products". We
sell solutions.
Thanks for your
interest. I hope you'll find your home on the web with us.
